Train the Trainer Fun UK 261 Fearless

Fearless Fun at the UK Train the Trainer

Manchester was again the chosen venue for the latest Train the Trainer in the UK which was held from the 12th to the 14th of October.

Candidates bursting with enthusiasm (and a few nerves) from around England, gathered on what was predicted to be a wet and windy weekend, to learn all about 261 Fearless and take their coaches certification course. The course was run by Master Coaches Juliet McGrattan and Lisa Ruggles.

Within minutes of meeting each other, the women were all chatting and laughing and it was clear that this was going to be a weekend full of fun and new friendships.

Train the Trainer courses are very intensive, there is a lot to cover, learn and master. With a mix of theory and practical, the candidates are introduced to not only the concept of 261 Fearless clubs but also the techniques, skills and knowledge needed to lead a successful women’s running club.

Miraculously the weather was kind to us and although we had to cope with blustery conditions, slippery leaves and much debate about how many layers we should wear, we didn’t get wet once. The different parks in the area were the perfect location for our games and drills and we were able to move on to tarmac to feel the ground beneath our feet when learning about running technique. There was much laughter as our proud women joined in with playground games, arm congas and learnt not to spill their coffee!

What was really palpable was the support these women had for each other. They had all joined the course with a desire to use running to help women in their communities to lead happy and active lives. They all realised that this was the start of a challenging journey but their shared determination and words of encouragement to each other was very moving.

It’s a hugely exciting time to be part of 261 Fearless and we know that each of these women is going to bring special qualities and characteristics to the 261 Club UK team. We were delighted and proud to award their certificates.

Clare Dixon, train the Trainer candidate, was buzzing after the weekend, "I enjoyed it so much and have learnt such invaluable information. I genuinely can't thank 261 Fearless enough for this opportunity and I can't wait to share the message of 261 Fearless with the women in Newcastle."
