Dive into the world of 261 Fearless

And then I did it: How Sigrid started running with the 261 Club Germany

Each of our 261 Club members has their individual stories about how they joined their local meet run. Find out more about their first running steps and how it changed their lives. Be inspired by their stories!

Sigrid Malinowksi is a regular member of 261 Club Germany and runs at the meet run in Berlin. She tells us her running story in her own words:

"I am 59 years old and live in a historic building in Berlin Tegel with my partner. We have four sons, aged between 13 and 30, and one granddaughter who is two and a half years old. Our family bonds are very close.

I am a professional nurse and work full-time as a manager of a retirement home. My tasks are very diverse, true to life and require a lot of flexibility, strong nerves and excellent communication skills. In the evenings I like to cook, be active, study Portugese and, well, do household chores.

In June I joined the 261 Coaches Chrissi and Miele and the other members for the first time. I had met most of them before in the local gym. I used to run regularly on the treadmill, but I could hardly imagine running outside. It seemed much harder outside on the unsteady ground and running by myself requires a lot of discipline!

When I heard about the 261 Club, I immediately decided to join the next session. I can walk to the meeting point and it suits me well to meet Saturday morning - it's the perfect start into the weekend.

It's so much fun to run with the group and I am always a little proud after completing the course. I feel great after cool-down and stretching. I appreciate that there is no pressure to perform in our group and that we all look out for each other.

In the future, I wish to run even more regularly and to participate in a couple of running events next year. I want to stay fit and healthy as long as I can in order to be fit enough to travel to Africa."

What an inspiring story! Do you want to stay healthy and fit, just like Sigrid? Find your local 261 Club on the map and join the next meet run session. It's gonna be fun!
